Job summary

Lam Research in Malta, NY is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support customers with on-site repair, installation, and maintenance of Lam’s complex semiconductor equipment. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to sustain high equipment uptime.

You will travel as needed, work in cleanroom environments, and engage in training to stay current with Lam products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, or related field with 5+ years experience (or Master’s with 3+ years)
• Experience installing, maintaining, repairing, or troubleshooting semiconductor capital equipment
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and operation manuals

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site repair, maintenance, and installation/relocation start-up services of Lam’s complex electro-mechanical and electronic systems at customer sites
• Troubleshoot, perform diagnostics, and isolate issues to component level; take corrective actions to minimize downtime
• Keep up to date on semiconductor capital equipment and Lam products through learning, training, and certification
• Assist in complex field modifications and updates; maintain records coordinating activities between Lam and the customer
• Serve as a subject matter expert; deliver exceptional customer satisfaction
• Troubleshoot and create customer action plans to support needs
• Discuss opportunities and challenges with customers to build trust
• Provide technical instruction and mentoring for junior engineers
