Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Project/Controls Engineer to lead scope development, cost estimation, and technical specs for power and water retrofit projects in Houston.

You will conduct site walkdowns, evaluate bids, coordinate with vendors, and support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites.

BS in engineering, 3+ years experience, knowledge of Ladder Logic, P&ID, DCS/PLC, and strong communication are required; travel up to 50–75%.

• Conduct site walkdowns and develop cost estimates for retrofit engineering and installation projects


• Develop technical specifications and coordinate with third-party vendors


• Evaluate contractor bids for installation work


• Manage and coordinate regional projects, including planning and scheduling


• Lead technical and project meetings and document outcomes


• Design, review, implement, and test control systems for power and water applications


• Develop and maintain control system databases, logic, and operator interfaces


• Support installation, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites


• Provide technical guidance and engineering support to customers and internal teams


• Build and sustain customer relationships through clear verbal and written communication

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, related STEM degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience


• Minimum 3 years of related experience


• Experience managing/coordinating projects


• Knowledge of a working power plant and all sub-systems


• Understanding of basic networking


• Computer assembly/troubleshooting experience


• Strong communication skills


• Ability to travel up to 50–75% of the time; travel requirement is seasonal


• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future


• Preferred: working understanding of Ladder Logic, SAMA diagrams, and P&ID prints


• Preferred: experience with DCS/PLC controls


• Preferred: 5+ years of control experience in the power and water/wastewater treatment industries
