Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced on-site engineering and project coordination lead to support the Owner’s team at a 1,200-MW combined-cycle natural gas power project through 2028.

You will guide technical reviews, manage RFIs and field issues, and drive automation and AI-enabled workflows while coordinating with EPC, OEM, and discipline leads to ensure design intent and contract compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• 10+ years in field engineering or owner’s engineering with project execution.
• Strong power generation project experience, preferably with combined cycle.
• Experience on site during active construction and commissioning.
• Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and manage RFIs, submittals, QA/QC processes.

• Serve as on-site engineering and project coordination resource.
• Support Owner’s team and interface daily with site leadership, engineering, construction, and key contractors.
• Coordinate and help expedite technical reviews, engineering decisions, and drawing/comment resolution.
• Support management of RFIs, technical clarifications, design questions, and field issues across multiple disciplines.
• Monitor engineering and construction activities for alignment with contract documents, design intent, and project requirements.
• Provide technical and project-management support for interfaces among the Owner, EPC Contractor, OEM, and Sargent & Lundy discipline leads.
• Lead others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution using data, automation, and AI.
• Direct automation and process-improvement work, including automating calculations, summarizing technical documents, and generating design documentation.
• Guide when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked.
• Support a 1,200-MW combined cycle natural gas power plant through project completion, currently anticipated through 2028.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program
• 10+ years of demonstrated experience in field engineering, project engineering management, assistant project management, owner’s engineering, EPC execution, or construction support roles
• Strong power generation project experience, preferably with combined cycle power plant experience
• Experience working on site during active construction and commissioning phases
• Working knowledge of engineering document control, technical review workflows, RFIs, submittals, QA/QC processes, and punchlist / turnover activities
• Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and maintain momentum on open technical and project issues
• Strong communication, leadership, organization, and issue-resolution skills
• Must not require U.S. work authorization sponsorship
• Willingness or ability to lead others using modern tools such as automation and AI
• Ability to oversee automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows, with results checked
• Experience overseeing engineers using Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is valued but not required
• Additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields is valued
