Job summary

Dan River CC and Rockingham CT seek a distributed controls/ electrical systems owner. You will guide complex projects, analyze problems, and develop design changes for AC/DC power systems, motors, transformers, switchgear, and related equipment.

You will coordinate outages and project support, maintain risk grids, and ensure stakeholder alignment across capital and O&M initiatives.

Qualifications

Associate Degree in Engineering Technology with 8 years of related work experience.
Or a High School Diploma / GED with 10 years of related work experience.
Or 6+ years with a BS and related field, or 8+ years with an Associate degree and related field.

Responsibilities

Serve as the Distributed Controls System/Electrical System owner for Dan River CC and Rockingham CT.
Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities.
Prepare technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
Coordinate complex projects and provide technical guidance to resolve problems.
Maintain the plant Risk Grid for assigned systems and equipment.
Manage vendor contracts for control/electrical systems and on-call support.
Support capital and O&M projects and COSO initiatives.

Job description

Serve as the Distributed Controls System/Electrical System owner for Dan River CC and Rockingham CT
Provide technical expertise and guidance to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems
Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities
Prepare technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
Conduct engineering and related studies and coordinate complex projects
Analyze and recommend business-process enhancements and develop standards
Maintain knowledge of new developments, technologies, procedures, and equipment
Coordinate work activities and maintain accurate records and files
Resolve emergent technical requests
Maintain the plant Risk Grid for assigned systems and equipment
Provide technical support for station-managed Capital and O&M projects
Oversee Outage and Projects Support and COSO projects to ensure scope, design, and stakeholder alignment
Develop scope, technical basis, installation, and testing requirements for design changes involving AC/DC power systems, motors, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, voltage regulators, breakers, and related equipment
Manage control/electrical system vendor contracts, including on-call support, maintenance, and parts agreements
Support company goals and represent the company positively and professionally

Requirements

Associate Degree in Engineering Technology along with 8 years of related work experience
In lieu of an associate degree in Engineering Technology, High School Diploma / GED and 10 years of related work experience
Alternatively, 6+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 8+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 10+ years equivalent experience without a degree
Good written and oral communication skills
Experience in the utility industry
Leadership skills in technical project management, program oversight and/or governance
Project management principles and practices
Controls systems experience (Ovation, Mark VIE, T3000)
Combustion Turbine & Combined Cycle experience
Ability to work with individuals from varied socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
