Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an electrical engineer to support the Engineering and Design unit, delivering thoughtful power and control system designs for industrial facilities. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to integrate process and control requirements, develop drawings, specs, and cost estimates, and communicate with clients.

The role includes fieldwork travel (10-15%), design optimization, and collaboration across project teams to meet objectives and deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with coursework focused on power or control systems.
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Support the Engineering and Design business unit as part of the electrical group.
  • Provide electrical engineering and related technical expertise to multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Integrate process, mechanical, and control requirements into electrical systems.
  • Design power and controls for power plants, refineries, mining facilities, heavy industry, and water treatment plants.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, sketches, and cost estimates; select equipment.
  • Write proposals and reports; communicate with clients.
  • Travel up to 10-15% for domestic fieldwork; work in construction-site terrain and move field testing equipment as needed.

Job description

  • Support the Engineering and Design business unit as part of the electrical group
  • Work with multidisciplinary project teams and provide electrical engineering and related technical expertise
  • Integrate process, mechanical, and control requirements into comprehensive electrical systems
  • Design power and controls for power plants, refineries, mine processing facilities, heavy industrial facilities, and municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Complete calculations and analyses
  • Develop design details
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, sketches, and cost estimates
  • Select equipment
  • Write proposals and reports
  • Communicate with clients
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to align technical work with project objectives
  • Travel for up to 10-15 percent domestic fieldwork
  • Work in construction-site terrain and lift or move field testing equipment as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field with academic coursework focused on power or control systems
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certified or ability to obtain certification within one year
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Excel, and Word
  • Current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify schedule to meet deadlines and client needs
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a project team environment
  • Effective project organization and management skills
  • Ability to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Helpful but not required: 2+ years of design-capacity experience on related projects
  • Helpful but not required: Experience with Rockwell Automation Logix platform, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk
  • Helpful but not required: Experience with power, fuels, mining, and/or manufacturing industries
  • Helpful but not required: Understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Helpful but not required: Understanding of short-circuit analysis
  • Helpful but not required: Familiarity with power studies using SKM, ETAP, or similar software
