Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Engineer II, Field Service to join our world-class team. This role involves assembling, installing, testing and maintaining electro-mechanical instrumentation, with emphasis on customer satisfaction and timely service across regions.

The position is remote-based with work in Texas or Virginia, requiring up to 75% travel. A BS in mechanical or electrical engineering or 3+ years of field service experience is preferred; a background check

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred and/or 3+ years of field equipment service experience.
• Hands on experience maintaining, calibrating, repairing electromechanical medical devices.
• Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Interface with customers in stressful malfunction situations.
• Follow verbal directions and perform procedures as assigned; MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Basic problem solving, installation, maintenance and service repair on designated equipment following manuals.
• Perform preventative maintenance and field upgrade modifications per instructions and bulletins.
• Order and handle repair parts cycle times.
• Maintain customer service logs and internal service records promptly.
• Communicate with customers to ensure resolution and satisfaction.
• Keep tools and test equipment calibrated and in good working order.
• Travel up to 75% and respond to ad hoc service calls.
• Work independently scheduling planned maintenance and on demand services.
