Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer II to join our team.

You will assemble, install, repair, test, calibrate, and maintain electro-mechanical instrumentation and systems, supporting One Lambda (TDX) equipment and ensuring customer satisfaction in a remote role based in VA/TX with up to 75% travel. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred and 3+ years field service experience.
  • Familiarity with Tecan automation hardware/software preferred.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining, calibrating, repairing electromechanical medical devices.
  • Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Can interface comfortably with customers under stressful situations with malfunctioning equipment.
  • Ability to follow verbal directions and perform procedures as assigned.
  • Experience in reading, understanding, and implementing assembly, test and inspection procedures.
  • Knowledge of bench top electromechanical assembly, problem solving, repair and testing techniques.
  • Ability to solder.
  • Must communicate clearly both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable operating Windows 7 & 10 and have knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional.
  • Familiarity with HLA Laboratories, testing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Basic problem solving, installation, maintenance and service repair needs on designated equipment following technical service manuals for the instrument.
  • Completing Preventative Maintenance and Field Upgrade Modification per instructions i.e. upgrades, technical bulletins, service manuals and technical bulletin documentation
  • Ordering and handling repair parts cycle times.
  • Keeping up to date on administrative responsibilities such as maintaining customer service logs and internal service records in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer happiness.
  • Maintaining tools and test equipment properly and ensuring they are calibrated.
  • Meeting Health and Human Services, Environment Health and Safety and/or all other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Applying internal processes to resolve customer service delivery issues and conducting root cause analysis that will lead to effective problem solving.
  • Be able to travel 75% of the time at minimum.
  • Availability to travel to any covered region when required.
  • Work independently scheduling planned maintenance, and on demand services, problem solving on site and confirm root cause determined by the Equipment Technical Application Specialist and FAS.
