Job summary

Elekta invites an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team in St. Louis, MO. You will diagnose, repair and calibrate medical systems, perform routine maintenance, and install new equipment while ensuring patient safety and high-quality service.

The role requires strong electro‑mechanical aptitude, hands-on troubleshooting with test equipment, and clear communication with customers. Travel to sites will be required; you will document service reports and collaborate with Sales and

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in Electronics, Physics, or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of field service experience or Level 2 qualification in two or more modalities.
  • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude with test equipment and hand tools.
  • Good manufacturing practices knowledge including ESD protocols.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all technician responsibilities with 100% accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and repair designated modalities with diagnostic accuracy.0
  • Perform routine calibrations and preventive maintenance on designated and secondary modalities.
  • Assist in installations with supervision and on-site support.
  • Read and follow blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Document service reports, timesheets and expenses accurately.

Overview

We currently have a Field Service Engineer opportunity in St. Louis, MO. Elekta pioneers medical technology with advanced Linear Accelerators for cancer treatment, Gamma Knife for neurological disorders, and a broad range of engineering disciplines including high‑power RF systems, electronics, mechanical and vacuum systems, control systems, and software and networking environments. This dynamic, collaborative space blends technology with compassion, and we are looking for an engineer who is technically skilled, customer‑focused, and ready to deliver exceptional service.

Responsibilities
  • Able to complete all Technician Responsibilities with 100% accuracy.
  • Independently perform routine troubleshooting and repairs on the designated modality with an 80% success rate of diagnosing the problem while working within the escalation procedure.
  • Perform routine calibrations and preventive maintenance on the designated and secondary modality.
  • Perform installations with assistance on designated and secondary modality.
  • Work safely in confined areas, including high current/high voltage modulators (20–50 kV, 1500 A), and use peripheral vision to gauge distances. Hand/arm traps may be present so depth perception is critical.
  • Work safely on Elekta’s full range of products, including medical devices producing high‑energy ionizing radiation.
  • Read, analyze, interpret and follow signal flow on blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Instruct customers and staff in proper use of the equipment.
  • Assist Sales/Customer Service with technical advice.
  • Stay current on all new products.
  • Submit timely and accurate service reports, timesheets, expense reports, film badges and other paperwork as assigned.
  • Manage parts inventory (part sales where applicable).
  • Provide product feedback to home office.
  • Maintain all company‑leased equipment, including company automobile, parts, and tools.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Incorporate Elekta Values into all department functions and responsibilities.
  • Adhere to all Elekta directives, policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in Electronics, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of field service experience, or Level 2 qualification in two or more modalities.
  • Strong electro‑mechanical aptitude and proficiency with test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters) and hand tools.
  • Computer literate with a solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices, including ESD protocols.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with a professional presence that positively represents Elekta.
  • Organized and capable of preparing clear, concise reports.
  • Willingness to travel and work independently as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license in home state.
  • Compliance with customer vendor credentialing requirements and Elekta’s U.S. COVID‑19 Vaccination Policy.
