Job summary

Aspire Talent Solutions in Addison, IL is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support industrial equipment and controls at customer sites and back at the facility, writing SOPs and updating manuals.

You will travel to client locations 3–4 days a week, mostly domestically with occasional international trips, diagnosing complex systems, training client staff, and helping grow the service department with upsell opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in hands-on maintenance or field service on industrial equipment.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read schematics and use diagnostic meters/tools.
• BS, AAS or technical certs in electronics/engineering preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
• Willing to travel 3-4 days per week, 70% domestic with occasional international trips.
• Valid driver's license and passport, or ability to obtain both.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve electrical, control, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues.
• Provide hands-on training to customer personnel on operation and safety.

• Relay field observations to internal teams for product and service improvements.
• Assist with in-house assembly and testing during non-travel periods.

Field Service Engineer – Industrial Equipment & Controls

Overview

We're hiring a technically Field Service Engineer to take on a pivotal role within a growing service operation based in Addison, IL. When you're at a customer site, you're the technical expert and the face of the company. When you're back at the facility, you're working on the back end, writing SOPs, converting paper records into digital systems, updating manuals, and putting real organizational structure around a service department that's ready to grow.

This is not a role where you show up, fix something, and move on. You'll leave a real mark on how this business delivers service.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer locations to install, commission, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair custom‑built testing and industrial equipment
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues across electrical, controls, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Provide hands‑on training to customer personnel covering proper operation, maintenance, and safety procedures
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for ongoing service needs
• Identify and communicate upsell opportunities including service agreements, calibration plans, and preventive maintenance programs
• Relay field observations and customer feedback to internal teams to support product and service improvements
• Assist with in‑house assembly and equipment testing during non‑travel periods

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands‑on maintenance, field service or industrial technical experience working on equipment; prefer manufacturing or military experience
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
• Ability to read schematics and work confidently with diagnostic tools and meters
• BS, AAS, or technical certifications in electronics, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
• Polished, professional communication skills with a consultative approach in customer‑facing situations
• Comfortable identifying and discussing service opportunities directly with clients
• Organized and self‑directed, able to manage a full schedule with minimal oversight
• Willing to travel approximately 3-4 days / week, 70% domestically, with occasional international trips
• Valid driver's license and passport, or ability to obtain both
