Job summary

Graybar Electric Company is seeking an Off-Site Service Representative - VMI in Hammond, IN. The role supports customers as a key liaison, handling orders, pricing, expediting, billing, and maintenance while ensuring total customer satisfaction.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00am–4:00pm, with an hourly pay rate. Candidates should have at least 1 year of experience (2+ preferred) and a 4-year degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience required; 2+ years experience preferred.
• 4 year degree preferred.
• Ability to perform physical requirements necessary to receive, pick, pack, ship, and move materials (up to 70 pounds).
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts, push carts).
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment, adapt to seasonal changes and temperature variations.
• Ability to abide by safety instructions and use PPE.
• Ability to meet driving requirements if assigned a Company vehicle.
• Knowledge of warehouse procedures and security regulations.
• Knowledge of product lines and suppliers and ability to evaluate products for customer needs.
• Customer service skills with enthusiasm and tact in various situations.
• Communication, administrative, and computer skills.
• Ability to work under general supervision and cooperatively with branch personnel.
• Complete all Company training to comply with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Take an active role in selling company goods and services; fill customer merchandise requirements, including the counter, using knowledge of products; suggest selections that meet customer needs.
• Coordinate prompt handling of customer service requests including order entry, pricing, expediting, billing, and order maintenance.
• Perform all shipping, receiving, and inventory maintenance duties; evaluate inventory requirements and maintain balance of merchandise.
• May perform Delivery Driver duties; operate a light van to deliver customer orders and meet delivery expectations.
• Update knowledge of products through self-study and training classes.
• Assist in orientation of new or less experienced representatives.
