Job summary

Bright Minds is seeking an experienced Security Service Technician to support customers in the Syracuse market, focusing on service, maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, system upgrades, and small projects for access control, video, and intrusion systems.

The ideal candidate works independently in the field, communicates clearly with customers, and handles both hardware and software service issues while ensuring safety and quality on every site visit.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience servicing, integrating, and programming access control systems.
• Strong electronic security troubleshooting ability
• Experience diagnosing both equipment and software-related issues
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
• Ability to work independently and manage customer-facing service calls
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to travel regularly to local jobsites with minimal overnight travel
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Respond to scheduled, emergency, and occasional after-hours service calls
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, wiring, communication, and programming issues
• Repair or replace defective equipment and components
• Service, integrate, and program access control systems
• Perform preventative maintenance on installed security systems
• Support system checkout on both new and existing installations
• Assist with smaller security installation projects as needed
• Support system upgrades, custom integrations, database changes, and system audits
• Configure and support network-connected security equipment
• Analyze customer issues and recommend appropriate repair or upgrade solutions
• Complete accurate and detailed service reports to support invoicing and job cost tracking
• Coordinate with other technicians and internal teams to support strong customer service
• Follow applicable safety requirements and field procedures
