Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Field Sales Engineer to join the Data Center Power & Control Division. This is a REMOTE position, supporting the Approved Networks brand. The Field Sales Engineer will be responsible for all technical aspects of our sales cycle specifically pertaining to our client’s needs with focus towards Legrand Data Infrastructure solutions.

The Field Sales Engineer must be both sales focused and technically proficient. The Field Sales Engineer will represent the entire range of company products and services. This position will provide support to DPC Sales for Data Infrastructure solutions.

What Will You Do?

The main responsibilities of this role are to proactively participate in pre-sales activities including, but not limited to:

  • Assist customers by evaluating transceiver, AOC, DAC, and other data infrastructure solutions in real-world environments to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and Engineering teams to communicate customer needs, recommend product enhancements, and provide real-time feedback on transceiver performance.
  • Present and demonstrate transceiver solutions (fiber and copper products) at customer sites, helping clients understand the technical advantages and correct application of these products in their data networks.
  • Address customer issues by performing hands-on troubleshooting with switch gear and transceivers, recommending necessary equipment or configurations for compatibility testing.
  • Leverage technical knowledge of transceiver technologies to support the sales team by explaining the value of specific products and helping customers select the right solutions for their infrastructure needs.
  • Assist in infrastructure requests by being the first level of support in gathering needs with sufficient detail to engage a team member with subject matter expertise.
Qualifications

Required Skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with an emphasis in Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Sales support experience in information technology industry, data center industry, and Optical Fiber cabling and connectivity experience strongly preferred.
  • Cabling and Connectivity Infrastructure design experience desired.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Autocad and Visio or similar design software experience preferred.
  • Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint/Visio), experience with Salesforce.com preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company including Finance, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Concerned with quality deliverables.
  • A sense of urgency in fulfilling customer and Sales Team requirements.
  • Act as visionary and strategist for the solution product area.
  • Long-haul metro network experience is a plus.

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires up to 50% domestic travel time; occasionally up to 75%.
