Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist for our Water Facilities South district. The role focuses on implementing and auditing the Site Specific Safety Plan in the field, ensuring adherence to contract safety expectations, and supporting operations with corrective actions.

The position reports to the Project Safety Manager and requires collaboration with subcontractors, craft teams, and regulatory standards to maintain a safe work environment across projects.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30/500/510 certifications required or preferred.
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, reviewing, updating, and communicating the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) to all stakeholders.
• Collaborate with craft daily to promote safety program buy-in and ownership.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to enforce policies and plans.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations using leading indicators and upcoming work.
• Assist with incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain project files in OSHA/MSHA compliance; support first aid and EMS relationships.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, and client requirements.
