Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an Entry Level Safety Specialist to support and audit safety programs on Water Facilities projects. You will implement Site Specific Safety Plans, collaborate with field teams, and assist with incident investigations and safety training in a dynamic construction environment.

The role involves supporting safety compliance, maintaining records, and working with OSHA/MSHA guidelines across multiple sites. Travel to various locations may be required to meet project needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Certification as Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, review, updating, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) to all parties, including subcontractors.
• Collaborate with craft daily in the field to encourage buy-in of the safety program.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to policies and plans.
• Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations based on leading indicators and upcoming work.
• Encourage and advise staff to execute the SSSP.
• Maintain project files in compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations and company policies.
• Assist with first aid and maintain relationships with EMS and clinics.
• Assist with incident investigations and implement effective solutions.
• Complete daily hazard inspections and help implement corrective actions.
• Review work plans and detailed hazards prior to start of work.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, orientation, and client requirements.
