Job summary

Kiewit Water Facilities South is seeking a Safety Specialist to develop, support, and audit our safety programs on site. You will report to the Project Safety Manager and help implement site safety plans, ensuring compliance with contract and regulatory requirements.

You will work with operations and craft to drive safety ownership, assist with incident investigations, and maintain safety documentation. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Certification as Safety Professional or EMT preferred.
• Strong computer skills with Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, reviewing, and communicating the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP).
• Collaborate with field craft daily to promote safety program buy-in.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to enforce policies and plans.
• Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations using leading indicators.
• Encourage staff to execute the SSSP and maintain safety practices.
• Maintain project files per OSHA/MSHA regs and company policies.
• Assist with first aid and coordinate with EMS/clinics when needed.
• Contribute to incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Complete daily hazard inspections and support corrective actions.
• Review work plans and packs before work starts; ensure safety readiness.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, and client requirements.
