Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist to support and audit our safety programs across projects in the Central District. The role reports to a project Safety Manager and focuses on implementing Site Specific Safety Plans in the field.

You will apply contract and client safety expectations, Kiewit Corporate Safety Manual, and OSHA/MSHA regulations, verifying work is performed safely and coordinating with operations and craft. Travel to sites will be required as business demands.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements.
• Certification as Safety Professional or EMT is preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving on-site.

Responsabilités

• Assist in developing, reviewing, updating, and communicating the SSSP to everyone including subcontractors.
• Collaborate with the craft every day in the field to promote buy-in of our safety program and support ownership of safety.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies and plans.
• Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations in the field daily based on leading indicators.
• Encourage, support, advise staff and craft employees to execute the SSSP.
• Assist with maintaining project files in OSHA/MSHA compliance.
• Assist with first aid and maintain relationships with EMS and clinics.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Complete daily hazard inspections and help implement corrective actions.
• Review work plans and detailed work plans prior to start of work.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, orientation, and client requirements.
