Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist to develop, support, and audit safety programs across projects. You will implement and maintain the Site Specific Safety Plan, ensure compliance with OSHA/MSHA standards, and work closely with operations to improve safety performance.

The role reports to a project Safety Manager, with responsibilities spanning field execution, incident investigations, and safety training, ensuring a safe working environment and adherence to contract requirements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, review, updating, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) to all stakeholders.
• Collaborate with craft daily to promote safety program buy-in and ownership.
• Exercise stop-work authority to enforce policies and plans.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations using leading indicators.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
