Job summary

IES is seeking a Safety Coordinator to implement and coordinate safety policies across projects, ensuring compliance with OSHA and state standards while driving safety training initiatives. EMT or higher credentials preferred, travel required, with a background in construction safety.

Responsibilities include safety audits, incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and delivering OSHA 10/30 training. Join a safety-first team supporting field operations and program adherence.

Qualifications

  • Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency; Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • EMT or higher credentials preferred
  • Minimum of three years experience in construction safety, preferably in telecommunications or electrical industry
  • Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction
  • Confined Space Entry standards knowledge preferred
  • Authorized OSHA OTI 500 Construction Outreach Trainer status
  • CHST certification or equivalent preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate with project stakeholders including field personnel and management
  • Ability to respond to safety emergencies with/without notice
  • Must meet driving standards
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Fully support all safety policies, procedures, and programs and Federal/State standards.
  • Ensure compliance with site and customer safety policies and programs.
  • Perform safety presentations and required training.
  • Schedule and conduct safety audits/inspections according to standards.
  • Oversee confined space entry activities and documentation.
  • Identify hazards and develop safety action plans for corrective actions.
  • Develop processes to reduce hazards and incidents.
  • Deliver safety orientation and OSHA 10/30 training as needed.
  • Coordinate management and field personnel safety training.
  • Prepare written safety reports and summaries.
  • Conduct root cause investigations on incidents and near misses.
  • Lead OSHA inspection processes with project stakeholders.
  • Maintain safety-related records and reports.
  • Mentor stakeholders to uphold safety culture.
  • Coordinate activities with site management.
  • Other duties as assigned
