Job summary

TP Mechanical is seeking a Safety Specialist to lead field safety audits, orientations, and regulatory compliance. The role includes managing the drug and alcohol program and supporting incident investigations.

The candidate should have at least four years in construction safety or a related bachelor’s degree, with strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the construction industry or a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health.
• Knowledge of Windows based software (Excel, Word) and email systems.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Able to perform climbing (extreme heights), crawling, heavy lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Performs field safety audits and makes recommendations for corrective actions as needed.
• Performs safety orientations for new hires as needed.
• Oversees random drug screening program.
• Manages company’s comprehensive drug and alcohol program.
• Performs and/or assists with accident/injury/incident investigations to determine cause and prevention measures.
• Assists with OSHA-related inspections, citations, hearings, and compliance across OSHA, state, local rules and company safety requirements.
• Makes recommendations to management concerning disciplinary actions for safety violations.
• Reviews leading safety indicators to identify areas needing additional training.
• Assists with the transitional return-to-work program for injured workers.
• Attends safety-related seminars, meetings, forums, etc.
• Assists or conducts all safety-related training.
• All other duties as assigned.
