Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Intern to support our North American projects under the DHO Safety group. You’ll learn the skills, programs and guidelines we live by to help ensure all personnel return home safely each day, while supporting site safety policies and procedures.

You will gain hands-on experience in monitoring field activities, assisting with safety audits, coaching, and on-site training. This internship offers real-world construction safety exposure and potential relocation to active

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study
• Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements
• Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skill
• Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
• Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done
• Ability to work with all levels in the organization from craft to leadership
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
• The ability to travel and relocate as required

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing and overseeing the Project Safety Program
• Monitor construction project activities for compliance with regulations
• Establish and monitor safe working conditions for personnel
• Provide corrective action recommendations and assist in safety metrics tracking
• Review project work plans for safety conformance and assist audits and training
• Travel and relocate as required for projects
