Job summary

Kokosing is seeking a Safety Specialist for a Point Pleasant, WV project site to support field safety initiatives across activities in heavy civil/industrial construction. This role emphasizes regulatory compliance, incident prevention, and continuous safety improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication and leadership are essential to drive site safety programs and training. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in Safety and Health and 5+ years of construction

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety and Health or equivalent combinations of training and experience.
• Targeting 5+ years of experience with safety and health in the construction industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing strategies for reducing injuries, illnesses and incidents.
• Provide training and education to personnel regarding safety and health requirements.
• Support pre-job safety planning meetings and develop emergency response plans.
• Lead safety meetings and training programs to communicate policies.
• Conduct safety audits, evaluations and inspections and implement corrective actions.
• Assist in investigating injuries and incidents.
• Develop and issue safety/health correspondence.
• Provide updates on regulatory changes to the team.
• Identify team members needing assistance or training in safety requirements.
• Coordinate safety programs with subcontractors and third parties.
• Serve as contact for OSHA and other authorities when Safety Manager is unavailable.
