Job description

Edgerton Contractors, a construction and excavation company specializing in earthwork, underground utilities, and design assist projects, is hiring a Field Safety Coordinator. The coordinator participates in implementing the safety program in the field during construction and reports directly to the Safety Director.

Safety Culture

• Adopts and participates in the further development of Edgerton's safety culture.
• Participates in the development of Edgerton's overall safety program, process, and people.
• Promotes a safety-minded culture that drives safe performance through a proactive approach, where incidents are not acceptable norms.
• Participates in awareness, education, and training curricula for employees as part of our safety program.
• Helps formulate work plans to mitigate incidents.
• Engages in impactful communication, awareness training, and project oversight to reduce incidents.
• Operations: Works collaboratively with operations, field staff, and safety personnel to support safe operations for ongoing and future work. Acts as a problem solver in the field related to safety hazards and compliance.
• Willingness to travel as needed to other Edgerton work locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or BCSP credentials, with 5 years of experience in construction or safety in the general industry.
• Familiarity with OSHA requirements related to civil construction.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Positive/Can-Do attitude.
