Job summary

The Department of Design and Construction is seeking a Safety Auditor responsible for overseeing all safety-related construction programs in NYC. You will conduct field safety audits, identify hazards, enforce safety policies, and prepare electronic findings and records in line with OSHA, DOT, DOB, and MUTCD standards.

Responsibilities include attending project meetings, supporting emergency response, assisting in accident investigations, and reviewing Site Safety Plans to generate comprehensive

Qualifications

• Minimum education requirements with or without related work experience as outlined.
• Must have a valid New York driver license for duration of employment.
• Ability to meet civil service eligibility criteria for the Industrial Hygienist title.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field safety audits and inspections of construction sites.
• Enforce safety policies and corrective actions per regulations (OSHA/DOT/DOB/MUTCD).
• Prepare electronic reports documenting field safety findings and maintain records.
• Attend meetings, support emergency response, and participate in accident investigations.
• Review Site Safety Plans and prepare safety reports for staff, consultants, and contractors.

Education

Baccalaureate degree with 28 credits in industrial hygiene, environmental health science, occupational health science and/or safety engineering

Baccalaureate degree with two years of related health and safety experience

Combination of education and experience with required credits, plus degree
