Job summary

NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Safety & Site Support, seeks a Project Manager to oversee construction safety programs, report to the Deputy Director, and support capital projects across DDC Infrastructure, Public Buildings, and Alternative Delivery initiatives.

The role includes field audits, safety performance evaluations, and preparing progress reports while ensuring Site Safety Plan compliance and continuous improvement in regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field with at least one year of project management experience.
• 4‑year high school diploma with five years of related experience as described in the first item.
• Equivalency options may apply per civil service rules.

Responsibilities

• Conduct contractor safety performance evaluations and field audits.
• Perform technical tasks related to construction capital project management and delivery.
• Monitor remediation of safety findings and ensure Site Safety Plan compliance.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to project staff and contractors.
• Prepare safety progress reports and KPI dashboards for senior management.
• Coordinate with other divisions and agencies on safety governance.
• Maintain status reports for capital and MMR projects.
