Job summary

Chef Robotics is seeking a Field Engineering Technician to keep our deployed robotic food-portioning modules performing at their best at customer facilities. This is a hands-on, technical role: diagnosing root causes, repairs, and tuning configurations via HMI, with regional travel as needed.

You will work on-site at customer facilities across your region, performing maintenance, validating fixes, and turning field learnings into permanent improvements in collaboration with Engineering.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or commissioning automated equipment.
• Comfortable with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, reading schematics, and using meters.
• Experience with HMIs, PLCs, and parameter configuration; Linux is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform field repairs and diagnostics on robotic modules across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, sensor, and controls systems.
• Tune and validate module configurations via HMI to improve throughput, accuracy, and uptime.
• Use logs and field data to distinguish configuration, hardware, and software causes for escalation.
• Provide feedback to Engineering on recurring failures and field learnings.
• Execute preventative maintenance and document wear trends.
• Run tests for new meals and ingredients; record results and adjust settings.
• Coordinate with 3P technicians and guide customer operators in day-to-day care.
• Communicate findings and changes clearly to customer operations teams.
• Follow food safety and lockout/tagout requirements at all times.
