Job summary

Qualus in Santa Fe, NM, seeks a Protection & Control Field Project Technologist to lead complex electrical utility projects, manage day‑to‑day execution, and serve as the primary client interface from assessment to proposals and compliance.

Responsibilities include coordinating outages, reviewing drawings and BOMs, procuring P&C equipment, and providing field leadership during construction and pre‑commissioning.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited electrical engineering degree with power systems focus.
• 0–2 years post‑education experience in electrical engineering; leading large power projects preferred.
• Experience reading One-Line, AC/DC diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and submit planned outage requests per outage plans.
• Act as primary client interface from assessment to proposals and inquiries.
• Review BOMs and procure Protection & Control equipment for substation installation.
• Develop wiring sheets, termination documentation, and as‑built records.
• Provide field leadership to wiremen and installation personnel.
• Verify protection schemes and relay coordination for proper tripping.
• Maintain schedules and coordinate equipment/labor with Operations.
• Coordinate with engineering/construction/testing/operations to resolve issues pre‑commissioning.
• Perform PT/CCVT secondary inspections and checkout.
