Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a Field Claims Adjuster for homeowner property claims in the Portland metro area. You will operate primarily from the field (approximately 80%), reporting to the Property Claim Manager, and may travel to an office for team activities.

A company fleet vehicle is provided with optional personal use. The role involves on-site inspections, complex claims handling, and customer interactions.

Qualifications

• Experience providing customer-driven solutions in insurance claims.
• Handling 1st and 3rd party claims across multiple lines of business.
• Experience handling moderately complex claims.
• Solid knowledge of casualty coverages and claim processes.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys and others.
• Identifies complex issues and seeks assistance as needed; handles claims in good faith.
• Manages 1st and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conducts on-site inspections, evaluates damages, negotiates with insureds and claimants.
• Responds to inquiries, makes decisions, and closes files.
• Interprets policies and endorsements and applies them to losses.
• Communicates claim process and status to all parties; directs as needed.
• May be assigned other duties or projects based on skills and experience.
