Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a Field Property Claims Handler to manage homeowner property field claims in the Tacoma metro area. You will report to the Property Claim Manager and operate primarily in the field, spending about 80% of your time with customers.

A company fleet vehicle is provided with the position and may be used for personal use. Travel to an office for meetings and training is occasionally required; compensation ranges from $64,000 to $106,000 per year, with relocation

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
• Experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across operating territories.
• Experience handling moderately complex claims.
• Solid knowledge of casualty policies & endorsements and claims handling process.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, and other parties.
• Handles 1st and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• May conduct on-site inspections, evaluate damages, and negotiate claims with insureds and others.
• Interprets policies and applies coverages to assigned losses; provides updates on claim status.
