Job summary

Hoffman Construction Company in Boise, Idaho is seeking a Project Engineer Intern to assist the project team from preconstruction through closeout on a live jobsite. The role includes coordinating site logistics, subcontractors, and field inspections, while supporting quality control, scheduling, estimating, BIM/VDC, safety and document control.

The internship is on the jobsite, approximately 20 hours per week, with a schedule tailored around your classes during the school year.

Qualifications

• Education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or equivalent degree or equivalent work experience.
• Pursuit of BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or equivalent.
• Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method.
• Familiar with CSI specification system for construction.
• Ability to work with trade and craft people in a field work situation.
• Patience, professionalism and cooperative attitude under pressure.
• Skill in handling several work activities at once with interruptions.

Responsibilities

• Interpretation of blueprint construction drawings and technical manuals.
• Writing and publishing meeting minutes, schedule graphs, and activity checklists.
• Receiving and distributing RFIs and change documents.
• Organization and filing of record documents.
• Field surveying and layout of control lines and benchmarks.
• Information storage and retrieval using computers.
• Technical advisor at onsite field construction office.
• Must access all areas of construction site for progress review.
• Clear communication for responding to information requests.
