Job Description Summary: The Field Project Engineer will perform Field Engineering management, field inspections, construction and/or commissioning management, FAT at vendor workshops, develop ITPs, conduct contractor walkthroughs, review bids, and assist in contractor selection. The FPE is expected to lead the site construction and commissioning team, ensuring project objectives, safety, schedule, cost, and quality standards are met.
Serve as the on-site point of contact for construction and commissioning management.
Oversee safety compliance, including site orientation, work permits, job safety analysis, toolbox meetings, audits, and HSES events.
Verify receipt and inspection of materials and equipment, manage material non-conformities, and oversee material custody transfer to contractors.
Manage all project documents from development to handover, ensuring they meet specifications and quality standards.
Manage and evaluate external/internal suppliers, including E&C and EPCM contractors, to ensure scope coverage and project goals are achieved.
Expedite suppliers as needed to meet delivery timelines.
Maintain a communication log for external partners.
Develop and actively manage the construction and commissioning schedule, reporting delays promptly.
Manage construction and pre-commissioning activities, ensuring timely responses to RFIs, ideally within 48 hours.
Follow and update the project execution plan.
Manage field communication as per the communication plan.
Support contract administration and assist during contractual disputes.
Track and approve changes during project phases, maintaining a change log and escalating issues as needed.
Promptly close action items from construction and commissioning reviews.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the project to potentially fill in for the Project Manager if required.
Provide input on construction and commissioning strategies during project development, including contracting, constructability reviews, work breakdown, and contractor qualifications.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma
Minimum 5 years of field construction or related experience
Preferred Qualifications
BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college (preferred)
Previous project management experience (a plus)
