Job Description Summary:

The Field Project Engineer will perform field engineering management, including field inspections, construction and commissioning management, FAT at vendor workshops, develop ITPs, conduct contractor walkthroughs, review bids, and select contractors. The FPE is expected to lead site construction and commissioning teams to complete activities according to project objectives, priorities, and contracts, ensuring adherence to engineering plans and specifications. Success is measured by safety performance, project cost, schedule compliance, and quality assurance.

  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for construction and commissioning management.
  • Oversee safety compliance, including site orientation, work permits, safety analyses, toolbox meetings, audits, and HSES events.
  • Verify receipt and inspection of materials and equipment, manage non-conformities, and material custody transfer.
  • Manage project documents from development to handover, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Manage and challenge external/internal suppliers, including EPCM contractors, to meet project goals and scope coverage.
  • Expedite deliveries from suppliers as needed to meet project timelines.
  • Maintain communication logs with external partners.
  • Develop and manage construction and commissioning schedules, reporting delays promptly.
  • Respond to RFIs during construction and pre-commissioning, aiming for responses within 48 hours.
  • Follow and update the project execution plan.
  • Manage internal and external project communications per the communication plan.
  • Support contract administration and assist during contractual disputes.
  • Track and approve changes during project phases, maintaining a change log.
  • Close action items promptly, reviewing progress regularly with the Project Director/Manager.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all project aspects to potentially fill in for the Project Manager.
  • Contribute to development of construction and commissioning strategies, including contracting, constructability reviews, and execution plans.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • 5 years of field construction or related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (preferred)
  • Experience managing projects (a plus)
  • Industrial gas experience (a plus)
