Job summary

Empire Southwest is seeking a skilled field service technician to repair and recondition Caterpillar and allied equipment in the field. You will diagnose malfunctions, prepare equipment for delivery, and communicate findings to clients and management. Overnight travel may be required and safety policies must be followed.

You will own tools, stay current with procedures, and assist with warranty recommendations as needed. English communication and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months related experience.
• Must communicate in English (spoken and written).
• DOT licensing, medical card, and endorsements as vehicle size dictates.
• Current driver's license required.
• Completion of TRAIN test evaluation.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain CDL if required by state/federal law.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures.
• Repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
• Prepare service reports.
• Plan and control cost of repair jobs.
• Travel to remote locations as needed.
• Own and maintain required personal tools.
• Learn Empire, Caterpillar and allied product procedures and systems.
• Provide on-the-job training to technicians and helpers as assigned.
• Communicate with proper individuals to clarify instructions or discuss scope or progress of job.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Work safely at all times.
