Job summary

Graybar is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to drive growth in our market. You will develop new prospects and maintain contact with established customers, regularly visiting them at their business sites or other off-site locations.

You will be responsible for meeting or exceeding the annual gross margin budget, promoting products in the assigned territory, handling customer issues, and supporting merchandising initiatives. Travel is extensive and encouraged to build relationships.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years industry-specific experience; 4+ years preferred.
• A 4-year degree preferred.
• Knowledge of business administration, sales and marketing.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Ability to learn our business and work independently to hit goals.
• Ability to sell and be persuasive.
• Extensive travel required, including overnight trips.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed annual gross margin by promoting and selling products in assigned territory.
• Handle customer complaints promptly and report potential claims.
• Keep management informed of local competition and market conditions.
• Carry out sales and merchandise programs and suggest new stock.
• Maintain current customer records, files, and reports of business transactions; assist in collection of past due accounts.
• Participate in training sessions, trade shows, and sales meetings as requested.
• Demonstrate products after sale when necessary.
