Job summary

AIDS Center of Queens County is seeking an Outreach Specialist to expand harm reduction outreach across Queens, engaging PWUD with trauma-informed practices and providing naloxone training, supplies, and referrals. This full-time role supports multiple sites and integrates closely with Case Management and Peer Specialists.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and engagement skills.
• Experience with outreach or harm reduction is helpful.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct twice-daily street outreach in designated high-risk neighborhoods.
• Engage with people who use drugs (PWUD) using trauma-informed, person-centered approaches.
• Provide harm reduction education including safer use, safer sex, overdose prevention, and wound care basics.
• Distribute naloxone and fentanyl/xylazine strip kits with training.
• Provide real-time referrals and linkages to internal programs and external services.
• Document outreach encounters, supply distribution, and referrals in data systems.
• Collaborate with Outreach Supervisor, Peer Specialists, and Case Manager for warm hand-offs.
• Participate in team trainings and annual refreshers.
• Other duties as assigned.
