Job summary

The AIDS Center of Queens County (ACQC) invites applications for a full-time STD Specialist based at two Queens sites (Richmond Hill and Woodside). The role focuses on low-threshold harm reduction education, rapid testing, referrals, and engaging TGNBI+ and PWID populations to improve HIV prevention and linkages to care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social science or health related field and one-year experience, or three to four years work or field related experience.
• Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, STIs and affected communities.
• Knowledge of PrEP/PEP.
• Fluency in one or more targeted community languages and/or dialects.
• Must be culturally competent and able to work with individuals from non-traditional backgrounds in terms of gender identity and sexuality.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the day-to-day activities of the program.
• Conduct ongoing needs assessment to design services that are culturally relevant to the target populations.
• Coordinate outreach to target populations in venues and neighborhoods where participants may congregate.
• Provide individual health education and information on PrEP/PEP.
• PrEP/PEP referrals and linkage to medical services.
• Conduct community presentations to raise awareness and recruitment for interventions.
• Delivery of HIV/STIs/HCV counseling, treatment, and referrals.
• Follow up all referrals to ensure client compliance.
• Maintain accurate client records and weekly data entry for program activities.
• Submit weekly program and activity progress reporting.
