Job summary

American Engineering Testing (AET) is seeking Civil Engineering Interns for Summer 2027 in Saint Paul, MN. This internship offers hands-on field and lab exposure, mentorship from experienced engineers, and opportunities across geotechnical and environmental disciplines.

Interns will participate in real-world projects, assist with testing procedures, and gain experience with field observations on construction materials. Valid driver’s license and the ability to lift 30-50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pursuing a Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related degree.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry 30-50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in testing procedures and equipment such as gradations, proctors, nuclear density gauges, DCP field testing, sand cone density testing, field concrete testing, and concrete cylinder testing.
• Conduct field testing and observations of construction materials, including concrete, soils, aggregate, masonry, asphalt, and reinforcing steel.
• Communicate with project managers, clients, and contractors at work sites.
• Additional miscellaneous assignments on an as-needed basis.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Pursuing Civil Engineering or Geology degree
