Job summary

American Engineering Testing (AET) in Minnesota is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. This temporary internship offers hands-on learning in construction materials testing, field observations, and real-world project involvement with mentorship from experienced engineers.

You will assist with gradations, proctors, nuclear density gauges, and concrete testing, while communicating with project managers and clients at active job sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pursuing a Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related degree.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry 30-50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in testing procedures and equipment such as gradations, proctors, nuclear density gauges, DCP field testing, sand cone density testing, field concrete testing, and concrete cylinder testing.
• Conduct field testing and observations of construction materials, including concrete, soils, aggregate, masonry, asphalt, and reinforcing steel.
• Communicate with project managers, clients, and contractors at work sites.
• Additional miscellaneous assignments on an as-needed basis.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Pursuing a Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related degree

Valid driver’s license

Ability to frequently lift and carry 30-50 pounds
