Job summary

SEIU Local 1 in St. Louis, MO is hiring an Internal Organizer to mobilize and build power for low-wage workers in the St. Louis area. The role emphasizes outreach, relationship-building, and developing worker leaders as campaigns unfold.

The position requires flexibility for long hours, strong communication, and the ability to work with diverse communities; a car and driver’s license are required. Fluency in Spanish is recommended but not required.

Qualifications

• Sharp communication skills and basic writing ability are required.
• Basic computer skills are necessary.
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
• A car and a valid driver’s license are required.
• Spanish is not required but highly recommended.

Responsibilities

• Conduct broad and intensive outreach to low-wage workers.
• Build one-on-one relationships with workers.
• Identify and develop leaders to guide campaigns.
• Conduct meetings with workers to plan organizing campaigns.
• Motivate workers to take action and participate in campaigns.
• Engage workers in broader union efforts to pressure industry sectors.
• Coordinate with workers to gather information for membership growth and mobilization.
• Involve community allies in organizing campaigns.
• Other duties as assigned
