Job summary

SEIU Local 2015 is seeking an Organizer I to support organizing, membership growth, and leadership development across the long-term care sector in California. The role focuses on recruiting workers, building committees, and empowering worker leaders to drive campaigns and workplace actions.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of organizing or related outreach experience, with strong relationship-building and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years organizing experience or related field outreach/grassroots work.
• Experience engaging diverse communities and building relationships.
• Experience working toward goals with measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and engage workers to join and participate in the union, including COPE recruitment.
• Build and sustain organizing committees and worker-led initiatives.
• Conduct one-on-one conversations and group meetings to assess concerns and drive action.
• Identify and develop worker leaders; facilitate trainings and leadership development.
• Support and execute campaigns, contract negotiations, and strike preparation activities.
• Maintain records of outreach, recruitment, and campaign activity.
