Job summary

American Water is seeking a Technician, Field Operations to perform field service tasks related to installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. with possible weekend shifts, in Illinois.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical school coursework in related fields preferred.
• 0-2 years' experience in mechanical, industrial, environmental, or utility work.
• Travel to local worksites required.
• License requirements vary by state; valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate company vehicles and equipment to perform field service duties.
• Tap into pressurized water mains, install repair clamps, connect service piping.
• Read meters and record readings to ensure accurate billing.
• Perform service turn-ons/offs and other customer-facing tasks per procedures.
• Maintain forms, sketches, field notes, and data using maps and system records.
