Job summary

American Water is seeking a Field Maintenance Technician in Woodridge, Illinois. The role involves locating utilities, inspecting and maintaining b-boxes and hydrants, and performing water meter reads and installations as needed.

A CDL with air brake endorsement is required or must be obtainable. The position offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for wage growth under the collective bargaining agreement, with a schedule Monday–Friday 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to the job with accuracy.
• CDL Class A with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain.
• Ability to read, install and test water meters.

Responsibilities

• Perform J.U.L.I.E. locates and valve inspections; maintain/exercise b-boxes and hydrants.
• Inspect, flush, and test water meters; support customer service needs.
• Work with utility crews on water/sewer repairs and projects, ensuring safety and quality.
• Operate heavy equipment and meters; complete required paperwork accurately and on time.
