Job summary

American Water in the United States is seeking a Technician, Field Operations to perform field service duties related to installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems. The role follows a Monday–Friday, 7a–3:30p schedule with possible rotating weekend shifts.

You will drive company vehicles and operate equipment, read meters, record field data, and collaborate with operations, maintenance, and contractors to ensure safe, compliant service and accurate billing.

Qualifications

• Field operations require basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to follow procedures and report issues clearly.
• Willingness to obtain driver’s license and state licenses.

Responsibilities

• Operate company vehicles and backhoe to perform field service tasks.
• Excavate and install piping, valves, and hydrants.
• Read meters and record pressure and flow.
• Complete forms, sketches, and field notes.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance and contractors to ensure safety and timely service.
