Job summary

The Dutchman Heating and Air is seeking a hands-on Field Operations Leader to oversee HVAC service, installation, and maintenance across Tennessee. You will lead, train, coach, and evaluate Service Technicians and Installation Crews while remaining hands-on with complex diagnostics as needed.

You’ll drive field performance, reinforce safety standards, and partner with ownership on KPI reviews, budgeted margins, and growth plans for Greater Nashville and surrounding counties.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of HVAC Service Technician experience.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of residential HVAC service, repair, and installation.
• Knowledge of current HVAC codes and field requirements.
• Ability to lead, train, coach, and evaluate HVAC technicians and crews.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations serving counties in Tennessee.
• Direct delivery and performance of HVAC service, installation, and maintenance.
• Supervise, train, evaluate technicians and crews.
• Stay hands-on with service calls and maintenance visits as needed.
• Provide coaching on performance, safety, and workmanship.
• Hold weekly KPI reviews and reinforce company standards.
• Ensure procedures meet codes and safety requirements.
• Monitor KPIs and field performance to meet objectives.
• Support field inventory, equipment, and fleet management.
• Review products/services and advise ownership.

Your New Role

• Lead field operations serving counties in Tennessee

• Take responsibility for the successful delivery and performance of HVAC service, installation, and maintenance operations

• Lead, supervise, train, and evaluate Service Technicians and Installation Crews

• Remain hands‑on by performing HVAC service calls and membership plan maintenance visits as needed

• Conduct technician ride‑alongs and provide actionable coaching on technical performance, customer engagement, safety, and workmanship

• Hold team meetings at least weekly to review KPIs, reinforce expectations, discuss safety, and keep the team aligned with company standards and values

• Ensure technicians follow standardized operating procedures for HVAC service, installation, repair, and maintenance

• Monitor field KPIs, communicate performance goals, and help the team meet or exceed company objectives

• Ensure HVAC repairs and installations meet company quality standards, applicable codes, and permitting requirements

• Assist technicians with complex HVAC diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and field challenges

• Monitor dispatching, workloads, and schedules to effectively utilize field personnel

• Resolve customer concerns and help deliver a consistently professional customer experience

• Explain HVAC membership plans to customers and support the team in growing and retaining membership clients

• Work toward an average membership conversion rate of at least 35% among eligible non‑members and a 90% renewal rate among existing members

• Support achievement of budgeted gross‑margin and operational performance goals

• Maximize qualified lead opportunities and support profitable, sustainable growth

• Manage field inventory, HVAC equipment, and the service fleet

• Conduct truck inventory audits twice per year and reinforce expectations for clean, organized service vehicles

• Review products and services and provide recommendations to ownership

• Ensure field operations comply with applicable local, state, federal, OSHA, and company requirements

• Promote a strong safety culture across the entire field organization

• Provide ownership with feedback on market trends, revenue opportunities, customer issues, and other factors affecting field operations

• Complete field‑related administrative responsibilities, including technician paperwork, personnel evaluations, and expense reports

• Follow and reinforce The Dutchman Heating and Air's Mission, Core Values, Code of Ethics, and Team Rules

• Perform additional job‑related responsibilities assigned by company leadership

• 7+ years of HVAC Service Technician experience

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Valid driver’s license

• Strong hands‑on knowledge of residential HVAC service, repair, maintenance, diagnostics, and installation

• Knowledge of current HVAC codes and applicable field requirements

• Ability to lead, train, coach, evaluate, and support HVAC Service Technicians and Installation Crews

• Strong HVAC troubleshooting and technical problem‑solving skills

• Ability to maintain and enforce high standards for workmanship, safety, professionalism, and customer service

• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

• Understanding of accounting and finance as they relate to HVAC operations

• Ability to understand and manage operational KPIs, gross‑margin goals, scheduling, manpower utilization, and field performance

• Ability to professionally resolve customer and field issues

• Ability to climb stairs as required in the course of work

• Ability to lift approximately 15-20 pounds as required

• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

• Ability to work more than 40 hours per week and up to 12 hours per day when operational needs require it
