Job summary

The Dutchman Heating & Air is seeking a Senior HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team serving Williamson, Rutherford, and Maury counties in the Greater Nashville area. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain residential heating and cooling systems while upholding our standards for craftsmanship and integrity.

You will work with a team of experienced professionals, take ownership of service performance, and provide clear options to customers.

Qualifications

• HVAC trade experience (5+ years)
• Residential HVAC installation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, service & repair
• Strong diagnostic & troubleshooting abilities
• Knowledge of heating, air conditioning, heat pumps, controls & electrical components
• Valid driver’s license & driving record
• Ability to meet drug-testing requirements
• Work indoors/outdoors in variable conditions
• Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and carry 25 lbs for 250 ft

Responsibilities

• Respond to residential service calls and assist with maintenance/installation as needed
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, modify, and service residential HVAC systems
• Inspect and test HVAC components for safe operation
• Perform heat loss/gain calculations to size systems
• Present good/better/best service options based on conditions & needs
• Explain work, findings, and operation clearly to homeowners
• Complete service reports and documentation for each call
• Recheck repairs and installations before leaving customer’s home
• Follow company pricing resources for service options
• Explain available maintenance memberships to customers
• Take ownership of service performance toward revenue goals
• Maintain clean/work area and service vehicle
• Follow safety procedures and team standards
• Participate in training & team meetings
• Deliver professional service upholding standards of craftsmanship & integrity

Your New Role

• Work as an HVAC Senior Service Technician in the Greater Nashville, Tennessee area, primarily serving Williamson, Rutherford, and Maury counties

• Report to the Field Operations Manager and support residential field operations

• Respond primarily to residential HVAC service calls while assisting with planned maintenance and HVAC installation work as needed

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, modify, and service residential heating and cooling systems

• Inspect and test HVAC components to verify safe and proper system operation

• Perform thorough inspections of customers' HVAC systems and identify opportunities to prevent future breakdowns

• Troubleshoot and repair air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, thermostats, electrical components, and related residential HVAC equipment

• Conduct heat loss and heat gain calculations to help determine appropriate HVAC system sizing for residential properties

• Present customers with clear good, better, and best service options based on system conditions and customer needs

• Clearly explain the work being performed, system findings, repair recommendations, and proper equipment operation

• Complete service performance reports and required documentation for each service call

• Recheck repairs and installations before leaving the customer's home to confirm proper HVAC system operation

• Use company pricing resources properly when preparing service options

• Explain available maintenance club memberships to eligible customers

• Work toward company-established membership conversion and renewal goals through professional, needs-based customer service

• Take ownership of service performance and work toward established revenue and performance goals

• Protect customers' homes by using floor protection and maintaining a clean, organized work area

• Maintain a clean, professional, and organized service vehicle

• Follow company safety procedures, Code of Ethics, and team standards

• Maintain a clean and organized job site while following safe HVAC service practices

• Operate hand and power tools safely and appropriately

• Participate actively in training exercises, morning or weekly team meetings, and company retreats

• Deliver professional residential HVAC service while representing The Dutchman Heating & Air's standards for craftsmanship, service, integrity, and commitment

• High school diploma or GED required

• Associate degree preferred but not required

• 5+ years of HVAC trade experience

• Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on skills in residential HVAC installation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, service, and repair

• Strong HVAC diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities

• Knowledge of heating systems, air conditioning systems, heat pumps, controls, electrical components, and related residential HVAC equipment

• Understanding of current HVAC regulations and applicable field requirements

• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to explain technical HVAC findings and service options clearly to homeowners

• Self-starter who can work independently and contribute effectively as part of a field service team

• Reliable and able to work flexible hours based on service needs

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

• Ability to meet the company's drug-testing requirements

• General knowledge of power tools, including proper care and safe operation

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, noisy, bright, dim, and other typical HVAC service conditions

• Ability to safely climb ladders and work from roofs or scaffolding when required

• Ability to work in confined or cramped areas, including crawl spaces

• Ability to use required personal protective equipment and work around conditions and contaminants commonly encountered in residential HVAC service

• Ability to perform job-related lifting, including lifting 50-75 pounds when required

• Ability to pick up at least 25 pounds consistently and carry it up to 250 feet unassisted

• Ability to work more than 40 hours per week and up to 12 hours per day when required
