Job summary

Barge Design Solutions in Knoxville seeks a Survey Crew Chief to lead field survey operations for land development, infrastructure, and engineering projects. You will plan boundary, topographic, construction layout, and control surveys, ensuring accurate data collection and safe field practices.

As a crew lead, you direct field staff, operate and maintain surveying tools, review data for quality, and coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of field surveying experience; 1–2 years in crew chief role.
• Proficient with GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors.
• Familiar with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Strong attention to detail and safety.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct field survey activities per project requirements.
• Supervise and train survey field staff in methods and safety.
• Conduct field surveys using GPS, robotic TS, levels; collect and review data.
• Interpret plans, maps, and specs for survey projects.
• Coordinate with PMs, engineers, and office staff on progress.
• Maintain field notes and digital data records.
• Ensure field work complies with safety and environmental standards.
• Troubleshoot equipment and perform basic computations.
