Job summary

Gray Construction is seeking an Assistant Site Manager to join our Field Operations Team on a field/project-based basis. The role supports the Site Manager and may lead small projects. Travel across the U.S.

is expected, with the candidate able to live anywhere in the USA. The ideal candidate has at least an associate degree (or equivalent) or 5 years of related experience, strong leadership, and a solid grasp of reading drawings and managing schedules.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent and 3+ years construction experience, or 5+ years with no degree.
• Experience in light/heavy industrial sectors, especially food & beverage.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Must read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and contract documents.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and scheduling software (MS Project).
• Self-motivated, team player with the ability to work with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the overall Site Manager during off rotation for the Site Manager.
• Assist in developing scopes of work for review and approval.
• Develop and manage project schedules; prepare estimates for self-performed work.
• May function as Site Manager for small projects (under $5M).
• Oversee multiple divisions of work and all construction means/methods.
• Procure subcontractors, vendors, and purchase orders; assist in bid selection.
• Prepare reports such as cost to complete, monthly billings, and status updates.
• Review drawings and maintain current sets for field use.
• Plan staffing needs and allocate resources for each phase of construction.
• Coordinate on-site activities from pre-startup to completion.
