Job summary

Kiewit in Abilene, TX is hiring an Entry Level Field Engineer to support field and office operations across the South Central District. You will assist in interpretation of drawings, quantity takeoffs, job planning, safety analyses, and coordination of material deliveries.

You will gain exposure to estimating, bid reviews, and cost reporting while relocating to where work is available. A civil engineering/construction management degree and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Willingness to travel and relocate as business requires on a national scale.
• Associates, Undergraduate, or Graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field.
• Infrastructure/Heavy Civil project experience is preferred.
• Ability to access all points of a construction site in various climates and environments.
• Strong work ethic and initiative; committed to doing the job right the first time.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
• Perform quantity calculations by measuring and computing completed/installed work.
• Assist in preparing work plans and work packages.
• Support field surveying and layout, including elevations and control points.
• Assist in compiling daily labor timesheets.
• Prepare Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and document safety.
• Provide solutions to construction operations issues.
• Participate in site safety reviews, toolbox talks, and safety trainings.
• Order and schedule material deliveries.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate on-site work groups; supervise field operations.
• Perform material takeoffs and basic engineering calculations to support field ops.
• Support data gathering for submittals and transmittals; assist in purchasing and PO processes.
• Enter data into the job cost system and review cost reports with site management.
• Assist in generating change orders and as-built data for PM review.
• Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations.
