Job summary

Lumen Technologies is seeking a Field Technician II to maintain and restore network services across assigned territories. This field-based role starts from a company‑provided vehicle, travels to multiple network sites, and builds technical expertise while advancing growth.

You will handle outages, troubleshoot and repair telecom equipment, perform OTDR testing, conduct preventive maintenance, and provide smart hands support at remote sites, ensuring reliability and uptime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant telecommunications, network infrastructure, or field technical experience.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing network equipment.
• Knowledge of fiber optic networks.
• Experience performing OTDR testing and network diagnostics.
• Ability to work independently across multiple field locations.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions during field work.
• Valid driver's license with ability to operate a company vehicle and travel.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Respond to network outages and service restoration activities to maintain service availability.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain telecommunications and network infrastructure equipment.
• Perform OTDR and other network testing activities to identify and resolve service issues.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on network facilities and supporting infrastructure.
• Provide smart hands support at remote network sites.
• Maintain site equipment, including HVAC systems, generators, and related infrastructure.
• Accurately document work activities and utilize Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook and Teams, for communication and administrative tasks.
• Support overall network reliability, uptime, and customer service continuity across assigned territories.
