Job summary

Bold Business is seeking a Field Network Technician who combines advanced networking knowledge with hands-on field experience to support enterprise and small-business clients in New York. Responsibilities include on-site diagnostics, physical layer maintenance, CPE management, VLAN/IP verification with the NOC, and end-to-end performance testing to meet SLAs.

This role requires physical agility, the ability to lift equipment, and a customer-facing presence as a technical consultant to business

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge equivalent to CCNA/CCNP/CCIE (certifications not required).
• Understanding of routing, switching, and the TCP/IP stack.
• Deep understanding of Ethernet standards and fiber optic tech (GPON, Active Ethernet).
• Experience with fusion splicers, signal level meters, TDRs, and network testers (NetAlly, VIAVI).
• Experience with enterprise-grade hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Adtran, Ciena).
• CCNA/CCNP certifications preferred (current or expired).

Responsibilities

• On-site diagnostics & repair: diagnose and fix outages or performance issues at client sites using Layer 1–3 troubleshooting.
• Physical layer maintenance: repair/replace cabling (Cat5e/6, fiber); perform fiber splicing and verify signal with OTDR/Light Meters.
• CPE management: install and troubleshoot managed routers, NID, and ONT.
• Logical verification: verify VLAN tagging, IP assignments, and routing with NOC to ensure end-to-end connectivity.
• Inside wiring: access server rooms and closet spaces to extend demarcations or optimize equipment placement.
• Quality assurance: conduct speed tests and latency measurements to meet SLAs.
