Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a Specialty Technician I to join our [CITY] team and perform field-based destructive and non-destructive testing, inspection, and observation activities in support of specialty construction materials testing projects. This role focuses on testing disciplines such as structural steel inspections, welding observations, and/or NDE while under supervision.

You will develop technical competency and maintain a positive customer service attitude while contributing to ECS core

Qualifications

• 2 years of related experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Obtain two specialty certifications applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy
• General instruction: driving for ECS requires a valid driver’s license.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
• Limited knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing methods.
• Good understanding of construction practices and jobsite operations.
• Ability to work independently under direction and as part of a team.
• Proficiency with electronic devices and field reporting systems.
• Basic math and data documentation skills.
• Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and instructions.
• Ability to calibrate NDT equipment (where applicable).
• Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Performs destructive and non-destructive testing on construction materials
• Conducts inspections of structural steel, reinforcing steel, and connections (welded and bolted)
• Performs field observations and inspections and collects samples for testing
• Documents findings in accordance with engineering and inspection standards
• Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers
• Reports changes in site conditions and additional testing needs
• Performs inspections in fabrication facilities when required
• Prepares and submits daily field reports and documentation
• Performs basic calculations and data reduction tasks
• Maintains and organizes field testing equipment
• Notifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipment
• Attends project meetings as requested
• Performs other specialty testing and inspection duties as assigned
